Local Fishing Guide

💡

Insider Tip

When mullet are running in fall, position yourself where the rip line meets slack water. Bass ambush bait at that seam.

Hot Spots

  • •8th Street Jetty tip - deep water and ripping current, prime striper territory
  • •The north side pocket - sheltered from SW wind, tog stack here
  • •Townsends Inlet side - calmer water, excellent for weakfish and fluke

Proven Tactics

  • •Bounce bucktails in the rip - white or chartreuse with Gulp trailers
  • •For tog, fish green crabs on bottom rigs right against the rocks
  • •Live spot or mullet drifted through the inlet for big bass

Seasonal Patterns

Spring

Tog first, then bass arrive. Bloodworms early, then switch to plugs.

Summer

Weakfish on the outgoing at dusk. Kingfish in the wash all day.

Fall

Bass stack up chasing mullet. Fish the rip line at dawn and dusk.

Winter

Tog paradise. Dress warm, fish slack tide only.

⚠️Know Before You Go

  • •Strong rip current
  • •Slippery rocks require korkers
  • •Waves wash over in rough conditions
